New Castle Man Arrested After Providing False Name, Heroin and Cocaine Seized


WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police announced the arrest of 29-year-old Taaji Hooker of New Castle on drug and weapons charges.

Authorities stated that on January 2 at approximately 2:48 p.m., police were in the 1100 block of Maryland Avenue when they observed Taaji Hooker acting in a suspicious manner.  Police made contact with Hooker and learned he had several outstanding warrants for his arrest.  Hooker was taken into custody without incident and police recovered a large knife, 47.8 grams of cocaine, .329 grams of heroin, and $445 in currency.  While in custody, Hooker provided officers with a false name.

Hooker was charged with the following offenses:

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver in Tier 3 Quantity
  • Criminal Impersonation
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Instrument

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $15,002 cash-only bail.
