WILMINGTON, DE — The Wilmington Police Department announced the expansion of its Community Resource Fairs initiative, which will now include monthly events held throughout Wilmington. This expansion follows the three successful Community Resource Fairs held in September 2022.
The first Community Resource Fair of 2023 will take place on Thursday, January 26 from 4-6 p.m. at the Police Athletic League of Wilmington (3707 North Market Street), and will take place indoors in the gymnasium.
“The community is at the heart of our service to Wilmington, and it is the partnership with our residents and our partners – including social service, public health, government and nonprofit organizations as well as our fellow law enforcement and prosecutorial agencies – that has helped us bring about such pronounced reductions in crime in 2022,” said Chief Wilfredo Campos. “These Community Resource Fairs bring service providers and community organizations together in locations across Wilmington to connect our residents with resources that can help uplift our communities and enhance quality of life in each of our neighborhoods.”
Launched last year as an expansion of past celebrations of National Night Out, the WPD Community Resource Fairs have been organized to invite members of the public to interact with police officers representing various assignments and positions at WPD, as well as a range of government, nonprofit and community service providers who serve the City of Wilmington and its residents.
