Man Charged with Attempted Murder in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, DE — The New Castle County Division of Police, Criminal Investigations Unit, announced it has charged Victor Alamo, Jr., a 35-year-old male, with attempted murder and firearm-related offenses after he discharged a firearm at a victim Thursday morning.

According to the criminal complaint. on March 16, 2023, at approximately 7:18 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Valley Road for the report of a shots fired complaint. Officers located the scene and after contacting the 37-year-old victim, learned he was sitting in his vehicle when a male suspect approached him armed with a firearm. The suspect discharged multiple gunshots into the vehicle prior to fleeing from the scene in a light- colored sedan.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Unit assumed the investigation and identified Alamo as a suspect. An arrest warrant was issued and all attempts to locate him were initially unsuccessful.

On Friday, March 17, at approximately 10:00 a.m., following the release of information to the media, Alamo turned himself in to police at the Cpl. Paul J. Sweeney Public Safety Building where he was arraigned and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $1,060,000 cash bail.

Information, a criminal complaint, or an arrest is not a declaration of guilt. A suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
