Man Arrested With Loaded Handgun and 84 Bags of Heroin

WILMINGTON DE — Wilmington Police Announced the arrest of 30-year-old Hakeem Watson on gun and drug charges.

Authorities stated that on January 8 at approximately 8:44 p.m., an officer on patrol conducted a vehicle stop in the 600 block of North Church Street.  Upon stopping the vehicle, 30-year-old Hakeem Watson fled from the vehicle on foot.  Watson was quickly taken into custody without incident and police recovered a loaded 9mm handgun with an obliterated serial number and 84 bags of heroin.

Watson was charged with the following offenses:

  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
  • Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 1 Quantity
  • Resisting Arrest

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $12,500 cash-only bail.
