WILMINGTON, DE — An announcement by the Wilmington Police reported the apprehension of Devonte Pearson, an 18-year-old individual, on weapons-related charges.
According to the criminal complaint, members of the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division observed Pearson acting suspiciously on April 26th at around 4:20 pm in the unit block of S. Clayton Street. When officers attempted to make contact, Pearson fled on foot. After a brief foot chase, he was apprehended without resistance. Subsequently, a search warrant was executed in the unit block of S. Clayton Street that led to the recovery of a loaded 9mm pistol and items that indicated the manufacture of untraceable firearms.
Pearson has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – Two Counts
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Manufacturing an Untraceable Firearm
- Tampering with Physical Evidence
- Resisting Arrest
After being arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11, Pearson was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution. The bail was set at $43,000 and must be paid in cash.
