Man Arrested in Wilmington Following Car Break-In

WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police announced the arrest of 27-year-old Shamar Rashad following a theft from a motor vehicle.

Authorities state that on December 11 at approximately 9:51 a.m., police responded to the 400 block of North Shipley Street from a criminal mischief complaint. Upon arrival, police observed a damaged vehicle in the block.  Police made contact with Shamar Rashad after gathering suspect information. Rashad was taken into custody without incident and found to have an outstanding warrant.  Police recovered burglary tools.

Rashad was charged with the following offenses in addition to his outstanding warrant:

  • Possession of Burglar Tools
  • Burglary – 3rd Degree
  • Theft Under $1,500
  • Criminal Mischief Under $1,000

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $3,800 unsecured bail.
