Loaded Gun and Drugs Seized in Wilmington Traffic Stop

WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police announced the arrest of wanted 21-year-old Radiel Rodriguez of Philadelphia on gun and drug charges.

Authorities stated that on February 10 at approximately 7:18 p.m., a police officer on patrol in the 1700 block of West 4th Street conducted a vehicle stop after observing a moving violation. The driver of the vehicle, 21-year-old Radiel Rodriguez of Philadelphia, was found to be wanted on an unrelated matter. He was taken into custody without incident, and police reportedly recovered a loaded 9mm handgun with an extended magazine, 683 grams of marijuana (packed in 96 individual packages), and $378 in currency.

Rodriguez has been charged with the following offenses in addition to the traffic violation:

  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 1 Quantity

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $32,000 cash-only bail.
