Lane Closure Planned on I-95 South Ramp for Core Borings in Philadelphia

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced core borings are scheduled next week on the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 to Interstate 676 East in Philadelphia.

Starting next Monday, May 15, and until Friday, May 19, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure will take place on the southbound I-95 ramp to eastbound I-676 (Exit 22).

It is suggested that motorists allow extra time to travel through the work area, given the nature of the work. Since the schedule is heavily dependent on weather conditions, there could be possible setbacks.

The core borings aim to serve PennDOT’s upcoming I-95/GR6 project scheduled for 2024. Section GR6 has plans for the reconstruction of I-95 between Frankford Avenue and the Vine Street Expressway interchange. This project also includes improvements to the interchange.
