LANCASTER, PA — The Lancaster Stormers have added seasoned Atlantic League infielder and outfielder Scott Kelly to their roster, the team announced Monday. Known for his versatility and leadership, Kelly joins the Stormers as they push through a stretch of injuries and look to bolster their depth.

Kelly, 34, has been a mainstay in the Atlantic League since 2014, most notably with the Somerset Patriots, where he began his professional career after a tryout camp. Over 11 Atlantic League seasons, he has played in 867 games, posting a .245 batting average, eight home runs, and 169 stolen bases. His only professional stint outside the league came during the 2016-17 winter season, when he played for Canberra in the Australian League, hitting an impressive .326.

Throughout his career, Kelly has earned a reputation as a reliable utility player capable of covering multiple positions — a critical asset for a team navigating roster challenges. Manager Ross Peeples highlighted this versatility, stating that Kelly “can play everywhere and is a solid backup,” and noted his value in bringing leadership into the clubhouse.

Before joining Lancaster, Kelly played for several Atlantic League clubs, including Somerset, Charleston, Spire City, and Long Island. Earlier this year, he appeared in five games for Long Island and faced the Stormers in a June series at Fairfield Properties Ballpark.

The Stormers, currently on the road, will continue their series at Long Island before heading to Hagerstown. They return home Friday, July 17, to host the Southern Division first-half champion High Point Rockers at Penn Medicine Park.

Now in their 21st season, the Lancaster Stormers compete in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, a partner league of Major League Baseball known for innovation and as a gateway for players advancing to MLB organizations.

With Kelly’s addition, Lancaster aims to stabilize its roster and remain competitive in the second half of the season, leaning on the veteran’s experience both on the field and in the clubhouse.
