LANCASTER, PA — On Friday, March 3rd, the Lancaster County Commissioners presented a check in the amount of $234,400 to Strasburg Township through American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding for Water, Sewer and Stormwater projects. Strasburg Township’s project, along with funding for 14 other community-based Water, Sewer & Stormwater projects, was unanimously approved by the Board of Commissioners at the December 21st meeting of last year.
The $234,400 will assist Strasburg Township in constructing a sanitary sewer for the Creek View Lane area. First identified in their 2013 Strasburg Township Act 537 Plan, the Creek View Area is the only area in Strasburg Township that is utilizing the aging On-lot Disposal System (OLDS) for sewage which has led to complaints and malfunctions. At the time of the original study of the sewage system, there were 13% confirmed, 19% suspected and 62% potential malfunctions for the Creek View Lane area. The necessary funding will allow the Township to complete its modernization plan for the sewage systems across the entire municipality.
To date, Lancaster County has approved the allocation of over $59.5 Million of ARPA Funding to support qualifying needs across Lancaster County.
