Juvenile Arrested with Loaded Gun in Wilmington’s Delaware Avenue

WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police announced the arrest of a juvenile male on gun charges.

The criminal complaint alleges that on May 2, at approximately 1:09 a.m., members of Wilmington’s Uniformed Services Division were on patrol in the 800 block of Delaware Avenue, when they observed a 16-year-old male juvenile acting in a suspicious manner. Police conducted a pedestrian stop of the juvenile who initially provided them with a false name. Following a brief investigation, officers recovered a loaded 9mm handgun and the juvenile was taken into custody without incident.

He was charged with the following offenses:

  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
  • Providing a False Name to Law Enforcement

He was arraigned in New Castle County Family Court and committed to the New Castle County Detention Center pending further proceedings.
