Illegal Handgun Recovered During Wilmington Vehicle Stop

WILMINGTON, DEWilmington Police have arrested a man on gun charges.

Authorities say that on May 5 at approximately 6:25 p.m., officers on patrol conducted a vehicle stop in the 1000 block of North Madison Street.  Police made contact with the operator, 24-year-old Averian Brown, and following a brief investigation, recovered a loaded .380 caliber handgun.  Police took Brown into custody without incident.

Brown was charged with Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon in addition to a traffic violation.

Brown was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $4,001 secured bail.
