Help Identify Thief in Philadelphia: $350 Worth of Tools Stolen, License Plate Linked to Another Vehicle

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Central Detective Division of the Philadelphia Police Department is actively seeking public assistance in identifying a suspect caught on camera committing theft on September 14, 2023.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:14 a.m., on the 100 block of S 5th Street. The victim had parked his work truck when an unidentified white male drove up behind him in a Chrysler Minivan. The minivan, distinctively marked with a dark-colored right front fender, bore the Pennsylvania license plate HRW-7081.

The suspect then exited his vehicle and proceeded to steal tools from the victim’s work truck. Notably, the license plate on the minivan has been reported as stolen and is not registered to the same vehicle.

The victim has reported that power tools, valued at $350, were taken during the incident.

The suspect is described as a heavyset white male, wearing glasses, a camouflage hat, a gray t-shirt, and dark shorts. Authorities have urged anyone who encounters the suspect to avoid approaching and to call 911 immediately.

The Philadelphia Police Department encourages anyone with information about the crime or the suspect to submit a tip via telephone by dialing 215.686.TIPS (8477) or texting a tip to the same number. All tips received will be kept confidential.
