Heist at Joan Shepp: Burglar Snatches Handbags and Sunglasses

PHILADELPHIA, PA — According to the Central Detective Division of the Philadelphia Police Department, an unidentified male suspect broke into the Joan Shepp Clothing store located at 1811 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia on September 5, 2023, at approximately 2:25 a.m.

The perpetrator gained entry into the establishment by removing the front glass window. Once inside, he shattered a display case and seized three handbags as well as sunglasses. Surveillance footage reveals the suspect escaping the scene by climbing back out through the window and fleeing in an unknown direction.

The suspect is described as a Black male with a beard and a thin build. At the time of the crime, he was seen wearing a hat, a tan jacket, black shorts, and black sneakers. Authorities are urging the public not to approach the suspect if spotted but to contact 911 immediately.
