Gunpoint Robbery at Walgreens: Delaware State Police Launch Investigation

NEW CASTLE, DE — Delaware State Police have launched an investigation into the robbery of a Walgreens located in the New Castle area, that took place on Thursday evening.

Detectives state that the incident occurred on May 11, 2023, at approximately 8:26 p.m., when troopers were dispatched to the Walgreens located at 1413 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, for a report of a robbery. Upon arrival, it was determined that two male suspects entered the store and split up. One suspect watched for customers while the second suspect approached two employees behind the sales counter while displaying a handgun and demanded keys to the safe. The suspect escorted the employees to a rear office and the employees complied. After obtaining money from the safe, the suspect escorted the employees back to the front cash registers and obtained additional cash. The suspects fled the scene on foot towards Pennsylvania Avenue with an undisclosed amount of money.

The employees were not injured as a result of the incident.

Police described the first suspect as a large, light-clothed 25-35-year-old black male standing 5’8″-5’9″ tall. The second suspect is male and taller, standing approximately 6’3″-6’4″ with all dark attire.

There are currently no photos of the suspects available at this time.
