Get Ready for Delays: Utility Construction on Chichester Ave. Continues Next Week

lane closure - traffic alert

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that utility construction work will continue on Chichester Avenue next week. This is part of a project to enhance safety by constructing a roundabout at the Bethel Road and Mill Road intersection, which is located in Upper Chichester Township, Delaware County.

During weekdays between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, starting Monday, May 8 till Friday, May 12, a lane closure is scheduled on both directions of Chichester Avenue at the intersection with Larkin Road/Bethel Road. Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to allow extra time when traveling through the area. Please note that work activities may be impacted by the weather.

The project involves PennDOT’s contractor constructing a single-lane roundabout to improve traffic flow at the intersection of Bethel Road and Mill Road. Some of the improvements entail relocating utilities, installing ADA-compliant sidewalks, crosswalks, bicycle ramps, and drainage facilities. Additionally, the project involves a full-depth reconstruction of the intersection.

The general contractor for the $2.6 million project, which is entirely federally funded, is Richard E. Pierson Company, Inc. based in Pilesgrove, NJ.
