NORRISTOWN, PA — The Montgomery County Planning Commission (MCPC) is hosting a free lunchtime webinar focused on historic preservation opportunities. The event is scheduled for July 26, 2023, from noon to 1 p.m. Registration is required.

MCPC Director Scott France says historic preservation can benefit community character, economic development, quality of life, environmental sustainability, housing affordability, and more.

“This webinar will provide guidance on historic preservation options available to communities in Pennsylvania, including types of ordinances to consider and inspirational local examples,” he said. “Participants will learn common misconceptions about preservation and gain a deeper understanding of how to use the tools available in Pennsylvania to pursue the type of preservation framework that is most appropriate for a particular place.”

Webinar speakers include Megan McNish, Eastern Region Community Preservation Coordinator for the Pennsylvania State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO), a bureau of the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.

Speakers from MCPC are Tim Konetchy, Community Planner II; Chloe Mohr, AICP, Senior Community Planner; and Michael Narcowich, AICP, Community Planning Assistant Manager II.

This webinar is being offered through Planning Smarter Montco 2023, an education and outreach initiative by the Montgomery County Planning Commission. It corresponds to the “Sustainable Places” theme of the Montco 2040: A Shared Vision, Montgomery County’s comprehensive plan.
