PHILADELPHIA, PA — United States Attorney Jacqueline C. Romero announced on Wednesday the unsealing of a seven-count indictment charging five individuals with alleged drug trafficking offenses. The indictment represents an assertive move by law enforcement to curb the spread of illicit substances in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, which includes locations such as Reading, Quakertown, Bensalem, Plymouth Township, Coopersburg, and beyond.

The individuals charged are Michael Sanchez, 32, of Los Angeles, California; Avrian Haywood Mack, 21, of Reading, Pennsylvania; David Matthew Yohn, 53, of Coopersburg, Pennsylvania; Aived Abel Garcia, 25, of Chula Vista, California; and Miguel Aliaga, 36, of Whitehall, Pennsylvania.

The defendants are alleged members of a drug trafficking organization (DTO) that distributed methamphetamine and cocaine through mail to various addresses in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. The indictment alleges that DTO members would pick up these packages for further distribution to their dealers.

The investigation into this alleged operation resulted in the seizure of forty firearms, over 100,000 rounds of ammunition, 60 pounds of methamphetamine, one kilogram each of fentanyl and cocaine, 65 pounds of marijuana, fentanyl/heroin, 300 fentanyl pills, six pounds of mushrooms, and $15,000 in United States currency.

If found guilty, the defendants could face life imprisonment, illustrating the severe legal consequences of alleged involvement in drug trafficking.

The case was investigated by a broad coalition of law enforcement agencies, including Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Philadelphia’s El Dorado Task Force, HSI Allentown, HSI Los Angeles, HSI San Diego, HSI LAX, Bucks County District Attorney’s Office Drug Strike Force, Quakertown Borough Police Department, and others.

Assistant United States Attorney Lizmar Bosques and Special Assistant United States Attorney Tom Gannon are prosecuting the case.

It is important to note that an indictment represents allegations, not a declaration of guilt. The defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
