PHILADELPHIA, PA — What’s better than a party? A party with dogs! Philadelphia’s Evil Genius Beer Co. is bringing you just that, a family-friendly day full of activities for both dogs and their humans. The “Block Pawty” dubbed “Did We Just Become Best Friends?” will take place on Saturday, May 20th from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm on the 1700 block of N. Front Street in Fishtown, outside of their taproom (1727 N. Front St). The event is free to attend as well as family and dog friendly so be sure to bring the whole crew out for the day.
Evil Genius Beer Co, founded in 2011, prides itself on its “Very Silly Names for Very Serious Beers” and has quickly become recognized for its witty beer names often citing fan-favorite movie quotes, hilarious memes, and timeless song lyrics. They’ve also become known for another thing though, and that’s their spacious beer garden which has become an oasis for our furry friends and their beer-drinking owners. The beer garden, conveniently located adjacent to their taproom in Fishtown has been named a “Top Beer Garden in Philadelphia” by both Philly Bite and Visit Philly, in addition to having made Philly Mag’s list of “Best Dog-Friendly Restaurants and bars” in the City of Brotherly Love.
“Our guests love to bring their dogs to the beer garden”, said Ryan Keller, Marketing Manager at Evil Genius. “When the sun comes out, the beer garden is packed with our furry friends and at our previous block parties we’ve noticed that lots of people bring their pups to hang out with them, so we figured we’d throw a party that they can enjoy too. There’s going to be a ton of entertainment for both dogs and their owners at the event” Keller continued.
Our four-legged friends can look forward to fresh baked dog treats from Amelie’s Bark Shop as well as dog toys and treats from Doggie Style Pets. Heart & Paw as well as the Pet Mechanic will have booths detailing their veterinary services as well as free giveaway items. For those of you who are looking to give a special someone their “furever home” two non-profit charities, Saved Me Rescue and The City of Elderly Love, will be in attendance with adoptable dogs.
There’s also plenty of happenings for those of us on two legs. The Lally Brothers Band will be playing all of your favorite throwback songs from 2-6 pm. Humans can expect to get treats as well with both the Burrito Feliz food truck and Grippy’s Cookie Co. in attendance. There will also be free axe throwing courtesy of Axecessive Force and free face painting for both kids and adults from Fabulous Faces Face Painters. Of course, Evil Genius will have an outside bar featuring pints of their beer as well as canned offerings from Canary Cocktails and Stateside Vodka.
