Elsmere Man Arrested for Armed Robbery in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police announced the arrest of 34-year-old Joshua Haines of Elsmere on robbery charges following an investigation.

The criminal complaint alleges that on May 10, at approximately 10:24 a.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the 100 block of S. Lincoln Street, in reference to an armed robbery. The case was assigned to Detective Brendan Wham of the Criminal Investigations Division.

Through the course of his investigation, Detective Wham identified 34-year-old Joshua Haines of Elsmere as a suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest. On May 16, police executed a search warrant in the 100 block of Linden Avenue, and took Haines into custody without incident.

Haines has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Robbery (First Degree)
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
  • Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony

He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $115,000 cash-only bail.
