Eastern Pennsylvania Geriatric Society to Present Virtual Program on the Impact of War on Older Ukrainians

PLYMOUTH MEETING, PA — “Providing Help to Older Ukrainian Refugees” will be presented online on Tuesday, April 4, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. Proceeds will benefit those living in Ukraine and as refugees in Poland.

“Providing Help to Older Ukrainian Refugees” is one of three presentations in an informative virtual program to be held Tuesday, April 4, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. Proceeds from the program, presented by the Eastern Pennsylvania Geriatrics Society (EPGS), will benefit older Ukrainians.

The program is open to the public and the fee is $40 ($30 for EPGS members). A watch party will be held at ECRI, 5200 Butler Pike, Plymouth Meeting, PA.

All proceeds of the program will be used to support the needs of older adults in the Ukraine as well as Ukrainian refugees in Poland.

Moderated by Allen Glicksman, PhD, of NewCourtland, the program will include:

  • Health care and social issues of retired persons in Ukraine and scientific activity of the D.F. Chebotarev Institute of Gerontology,” presented by Prof. Oleksandr Poliakov, MD, PhD, Institute of Gerontology, National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine
  • “Professional life, health and working capacity from COVID-19 pandemic crisis to war time,” presented by Olena Tomarevska, MD, PhD, who works with Prof. Poliakov at the Institute of Gerontology
  • “Providing Help to Older Ukrainian refugees – individual and institutional experience from Poland,” presented by Dr. Jolanta Perek-Białas, Director of the Center for Evaluation and Public Policies Analysis at Jagiellonian University, Cracow, Poland
