NEWARK, DE — In a brazen carjacking incident that occurred on Sunday afternoon, May 7th, in the parking lot of the Edge Fitness on Fashion Center Boulevard, a 31-year-old female victim was ambushed by two unknown suspects who managed to steal her Dodge Durango, says Detective Armstrong of the Delaware State Police. The suspects, both described as being around 5’5” tall and wearing dark clothing, forcefully took the victim’s car keys, resulting in a physical struggle between them before making their escape in the stolen vehicle.
Despite being physically shoved to the ground, the victim bravely attempted to fight off the attackers, sustaining minor injuries to the upper and lower extremities in the process. Once the first suspect had taken over the driver’s seat of the Durango, the second suspect promptly hopped into the passenger seat alongside them, and they rapidly absconded in the purloined car.
Although the victim suffered minor wounds to the upper and lower extremities, medical attention was declined at the scene.
The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Robbery Unit is now investigating the incident and has called for the public’s assistance in tracking down the perpetrators. Anyone with information regarding this case is strongly urged to contact Detective Armstrong at 302-365-8410 or to send a Private Facebook Message to the Delaware State Police. Confidential tips may also be provided by contacting Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.
