Delaware State Police Investigates Homicide in Newark

NEWARK, DE — The Delaware State Police announced they are investigating a homicide that occurred Sunday morning in Newark.

Authorities stated that on March 19, 2023, at approximately 5:53 a.m., New Castle County Police Department responded to a possible traffic accident on Old County Road. When officers arrived, they located an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound inside a vehicle. An examination of the scene revealed that the shooting occurred near the 2400 block of Old County Road, which is within the jurisdiction of the Delaware State Police. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The victim’s identification is being withheld until notification is made to the family. No suspect information is available at this time.

The Homicide Unit is still actively investigating this incident. Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding this case to contact Detective D. Grassi by calling 302-365-8441.
