PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that construction is planned next week on U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway), Broad Street, and Fox Street under a project to rehabilitate the Wayne Junction Viaduct in Philadelphia.
The work schedules and locations are:
- Tuesday, September 5, through Friday, September 8, from 3:30 PM to 5:30 AM the following morning, periodic lane closures will be in place on southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) between 9th Street and Fox Street for application of a protective coating on the viaduct’s new concrete deck;
- Tuesday, September 5, through Friday, September 8, from 8:30 PM to 11:30 AM the following morning, periodic lane closures will be in place on northbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) between 9th Street and Fox Street for application of a protective coating on the viaduct’s new concrete deck;
- Tuesday, September 5, through Wednesday, October 6, right lane closures will be in place in both directions on Broad Street (Route 611) in the vicinity of the U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) overpass for construction of sign foundations; and
- Thursday, September 7, from 6:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, Fox Street will be closed between W Queen Lane and Roberts Avenue for paving. Motorists will be directed to follow the posted detour route.
Allow extra time when traveling through or near the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
