Construction Planned Next Week on I-95 in Northeast Philadelphia

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that construction is scheduled at night next week on Interstate 95 to set a new traffic pattern under the $267.9 million Section BS2 project to reconstruct I-95 at the Bridge Street Interchange in Northeast Philadelphia.

The work schedules and locations are:

  • Tuesday, March 7, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, lane closures will be in place on northbound I-95 between the Betsy Ross Bridge and Bridge Street interchanges;
  • Tuesday, March 7, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM, the ramp from Aramingo Avenue/Betsy Ross Bridge to northbound I-95 will be closed. Motorists will be directed to use northbound Aramingo Avenue to the northbound on-ramp at Bridge Street;
  • Wednesday, March 8, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, lane closures will be in place on southbound I-95 between the Bridge Street and Betsy Ross Bridge interchanges;
  • Wednesday, March 8, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, the ramp from southbound I-95 at the Betsy Ross Bridge Interchange to Aramingo Avenue will be closed. Motorists will be directed to the Bridge Street off-ramp to Aramingo Avenue;
  • Thursday, March 9, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a single lane closure will be in place on southbound I-95 between the Bridge Street and Betsy Ross Bridge interchanges;
  • Friday March 10, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a single lane closure will be in place on northbound and southbound I-95 between the Betsy Ross Bridge and Bridge Street interchanges; and
  • Monday, March 13, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a single lane closure will be in place on northbound I-95 between the Betsy Ross Bridge and Bridge Street interchanges.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area or use an alternate route because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
