LANCASTER, PA — The City of Lancaster, in partnership with Lancaster’s Economic Action for Downtown’s Success (LEADS), is seeking an evergreen to serve as the City’s Christmas Tree in Penn Square this holiday season.

Property owners who have an appropriately shaped, 25-foot or taller evergreen that they are planning to remove are invited to contact the City. Interested property owners should contact City Arborist, Rick Anderer, at (717) 291-4846 or randerer@cityoflancasterpa.gov, including their name, address, phone number, location of the tree, and a photo. A jury of City staff and LEADS board members will select the tree.

The tree selected will be cut down by the City, then transported and mounted in Penn Square shortly before Thanksgiving. The donor will be recognized for their contribution in a press release and the program at the Mayor’s Tree Lighting. After the holidays are over, the tree will be transformed into mulch for City parks.

The tree will be the centerpiece of the Mayor’s Tree Lighting on Nov. 24. For more information about the event, go to www.visitlancastercity.com/city-events/lancaster-city-for-the-holidays.
