Bridge Repairs Planned Next Week on I-95 North in South Philadelphia

Expect Traffic Delays in Chester County

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that regional bridge repairs will continue next week on Interstate 95 in South Philadelphia under a $44.5 million bridge improvement project to perform high-priority repairs on several structures on I-95, Interstate 295, and Interstate 476 in Philadelphia, Bucks and Delaware counties.

The work schedules and locations are:

  • Monday, January 16, through Friday, January 20, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, lane closures are planned on northbound I-95 approaching the Columbus Boulevard/Washington Avenue Interchange (Exit 20); and
  • Thursday, January 19, and Friday, January 20, from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, lane closures are planned on northbound I-95 between the Route 611 North (Exit 17) and Columbus Boulevard/Washington Avenue interchanges (Exit 20).

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Driscoll Construction Company, Inc. of Philadelphia is the general contractor on the project, which is financed with 100% federal funds.
