Barrier Placement Scheduled on I-476 for Local County Improvement Project in Plymouth Township

Traffic Restrictions Chester County

PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP, PA — Barrier placement is scheduled on Interstate 476 in Plymouth Township, Montgomery County, under a local Montgomery County project to improve congestion, safety, bridge infrastructure, pedestrian facilities, and stormwater management along the highly traveled corridor.

On Wednesday, October 4, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a right lane closure is scheduled in both directions on I-476 between the Mid-County Expressway and Norristown interchanges.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The Ridge Pike project includes widening the county-owned section, adding left turn lanes, improving pedestrian mobility, modernizing traffic signals, and rehabilitating two state-owned bridges. These enhancements will enhance transportation and safety in the area.

J. D. Eckman, Inc. of Atglen Borough, Chester County is the contractor for this $39.2 million project to improve travel and safety along Ridge Pike between Belvoir Road and Chemical Road. Construction is financed with county, state, and federal funds.
