traffic alert

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that resurfacing is scheduled on northbound Interstate 476 at the MacDade Boulevard Interchange in Ridley Township, Delaware County.

The work schedule and location are:

  • Sunday, July 9, through Friday, July 14, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, alternating lane closures are scheduled on northbound I-476 at the MacDade Boulevard Interchange for paving.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

PennDOT’s contract involves various improvements to enhance safety and efficiency. These include constructing a left turn lane, modernizing traffic signals, installing new curb ramps, mounting dynamic message boards and CCTV cameras, widening and realigning ramps, constructing auxiliary lanes, and reconstructing a pedestrian bridge. These upgrades aim to reduce crashes, improve accessibility, and alleviate traffic congestion.

Allan Myers, LP, of Worcester, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on the $16.2 million project, which is financed with 80% federal funds and 20% state funds. The entire project is scheduled to finish in the summer of 2026.
