Arrest Made in Wilmington Drug Bust, Loaded Gun and Drugs Recovered

WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police announced the arrest of 18-year-old Kymere Allen and 29-year-old Davonte Lewis on gun and drug charges.

Authorities state that on December 8 at approximately 12:46 p.m., members of Wilmington’s Street Crimes Unit were in the 700 block of East 22nd Street when they observed Kymere Allen acting in a suspicious manner.  When police attempted to make contact with Allen, he fled into a nearby residence.  Police were able to quickly take Allen into custody without incident.  A second suspect, Davonte Lewis, was observed exiting the rear of the same residence and was detained.  Police learned that Lewis had several outstanding warrants for his arrest.  Following an investigation, police recovered a loaded 9mm handgun, 660.01 grams of marijuana, and 75 Oxycodone pills.

Allen was charged with the following offenses:

  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
  • Tampering with Physical Evidence
  • Resisting Arrest

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was released on $23,000 unsecured bail.

Lewis was charged with the following offenses in addition to his outstanding warrants:

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 1 Quantity
  • Resisting Arrest

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $20,000 cash-only bail.
