BEAR, DE — The Delaware State Police announced they are investigating an armed robbery incident that took place in the Bear area on Wednesday night, targeting a delivery truck.

Detectives state that on May 17, 2023, at approximately 8:38 p.m., troopers responded to the Wawa located at 3601 Wrangle Hill Road, Bear for a report of an armed robbery that had just occurred. Troopers arrived and learned that four suspects approached a tractor-trailer that was parked next to the store while a 37-year-old male victim was in the trailer unloading and delivering products for Wawa. The suspects walked into the trailer while displaying firearms toward the victim and began removing cartons of cigarettes. During the robbery, the driver’s assistant, a 28-year-old male, exited the Wawa returning to the truck and the suspects turned their weapons on him. The suspects then fled the scene in two separate dark-colored sedans with numerous boxes of cigarettes. Neither victim was harmed during the robbery.

All four suspects were described as black males, no further description at this time. Surveillance video and images are not yet available.

The incident is currently being investigated by the Troop 2 Robbery Unit. Those with any information on the robbery are urged to get in touch with Detective B. Harris, either by calling 302-365-8410 or by contacting Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.
