PHILADELPHIA, PA — Roxborough is about to get its annual dose of frosty fun with the return of the Arctic Wonderland! On Saturday, February 24th, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, the Roxborough Development Corporation is teaming up with Ice Sculpture Philly to transform the Pocket Park into a winter wonderland straight out of the North Pole.
Complete with ice carvings of Arctic animals, live ice sculpture demonstrations, and even an Arctic mini golf course, attendees can brace themselves for a cold but exciting afternoon. And don’t worry about the chills – warming stations will be scattered across the park, ensuring everyone stays cozy while they enjoy live music performances and delicious food and drinks from local businesses.
The delicious fare will include local beer from New Ridge Brewing Co. and hot eats from the Clean Plate Food Club food truck. Jacqueline Cusack, Roxborough Development Corporation Executive Director, promises an event that is not just fun but also brings support and foot traffic to Roxborough’s local businesses.
Have your camera ready for the live ice sculpting demonstration at 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm, where the talented sculptors from Ice Sculpture Philly will turn blocks of ice into breathtaking Arctic masterpieces. After each session, attendees can take photos with these remarkable ice artworks!
But that’s not all! The Arctic Wonderland also features a fun-filled game of mini golf, where attendees can challenge their friends and family for a frosty match. Kids and adults can also have a blast building their own s’mores at the designated station. And who wouldn’t enjoy warming up by the fire while devouring ooey-gooey s’mores?
Join in the magical experience of the Arctic Wonderland at the Roxborough Pocket Park located at 6170 Ridge Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19128. The event is free and open to the public, with food and drink available for purchase.
Live music will feature local Philly duo Velvet Snow from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm, followed by Skip Winters, a one-man band renowned for switching between acoustic and electric guitar, from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm.
For those traveling to the event, options include driving, biking, taking the bus, or catching a train. Convenient parking is available at 465 Leverington Avenue and 514 Dupont Street.
