Archbishop Pérez to Visit and Offer Blessing at Saint Monica Parish Elementary School

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez announced he will visit Saint Monica Parish Elementary School in South Philadelphia. He will be joined by Reverend Joseph Kelley, Pastor, Saint Monica Parish; Deacon Leonard DeMasi, Saint Monica Parish; and Sister Melissa Mastrangelo, I.H.M., Principal, Saint Monica Parish Elementary School. Together, they will greet students upon arrival at the upper campus.

Andrew McLaughlin, Ed.D., Secretary for Elementary Education for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, and Sister Margaret Rose Adams, I.H.M., Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Education for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, as well as members of the school community will also be present. Social distancing and masking guidelines will be followed.

After greeting students upon their arrival, the Archbishop will lead everyone in prayer and offer brief remarks to members of the 8th grade class in the school’s gymnasium.

The Archbishop will then address members of the student body over the school’s public address system. The Archbishop will conclude his visit to the upper school by blessing students in their classrooms.

Following, Archbishop Pérez will visit Saint Monica’s Lower School Campus, which houses an Early Learning Center for 3 and 4 year old children as well as grades kindergarten to 2nd grade. The Archbishop will use the school’s public address system to lead everyone in prayer before blessing students in their classrooms there as well.
