BRYN MAWR, PA — Aqua Pennsylvania this week announced the promotion of Michael Convery to the newly created position of director of planning and engineering.
In his new role, Convery oversees all Aqua Pennsylvania capital responsibilities, including all infrastructure improvement projects throughout the state that help to improve service and reliability for customers. In addition, he will implement plans and policies to ensure that future customer water and wastewater needs are met through the replacement and rehabilitation of major Aqua facilities including treatment plants, pipe, wells and storage tanks. He will also manage a team that works closely with state and local officials to ensure projects meet all necessary regulatory requirements.
“Michael’s extensive experience on our engineering team and his successful execution of various capital projects across the state makes him a strong fit for this role,” said Marc Lucca, Aqua Pennsylvania president. “Michael is a strong leader, known for his ability to engage and connect with team members throughout the planning and design process as well as project start-up. His attention to detail and his passion for customer service by improving our water and wastewater infrastructure in Pennsylvania is invaluable.”
For the past 14 years, Convery has been an integral team member in Aqua’s engineering department, starting as a project engineer before being promoted to project manager. He has planned and executed several capital improvement projects across Pennsylvania, including Aqua’s new state-of-the-art environmental laboratory in Bryn Mawr that opened in July 2021. The lab, which performs nearly 90,000 water quality tests a year, doubles the size of Aqua’s previous lab to increase capacity.
Convery is also committed to Aqua Pennsylvania’s partnership with Villanova University’s College of Engineering, which provides mentorship opportunities and water quality expertise for the college’s international water service work. In 2017 Convery participated in a service trip to Nicaragua to break ground on a water distribution project, highlighting his enthusiasm of supporting students’ career growth and Aqua’s strong commitment to the community.
Convery holds a Bachelor of Science degree in environmental systems engineering from Penn State University and is currently pursuing an MBA. He currently resides in Havertown, Pennsylvania with his wife and three children.
