WHITEMARSH TOWNSHIP, PA — Residents and motorists in Whitemarsh Township, Montgomery County should prepare for a significant construction project starting later this month. Aqua Pennsylvania has announced plans to carry out water main construction on Militia Hill Road, which will result in traffic disruptions.
The project will start on Tuesday, January 23, and is expected to last until Tuesday, April 30. During this period, a weekday closure of Militia Hill Road between Stenton Avenue and Butler Pike is scheduled from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
During the closure hours, motorists will be redirected to use an alternate route via Butler Pike, Flourtown Road, Joshua Road, and Stenton Avenue. This detour has been planned to minimize disruption and maintain the flow of traffic in the area.
Local access will be maintained up to the work zone, ensuring that residents and businesses along Militia Hill Road can continue to operate as usual. However, motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through or near these work areas due to expected backups and delays.
All scheduled activities for this project are weather-dependent. In the event of severe weather conditions, alterations to the schedule may be necessary.
This project will be completed under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit.
Motorists are encouraged to exercise patience and caution when navigating the detour and nearby areas during the construction period.
