19-Year-Old Virginia Man Charged With Possession of Firearm, Controlled Substance

WILMINGTON, DEWilmington Police have arrested a Virginia man on gun and drug charges.

Authorities state that on January 19 at approximately 8:15 p.m., members of the Street Crimes Unit were in the 600 block of North Jefferson Street when they observed 19-year-old Randy Lucas, of Virginia, acting suspiciously.  When police attempted to make contact with Lucas, he fled on foot.  He was quickly taken into custody and police recovered a loaded 9mm handgun and a bag of marijuana.

Lucas was charged with the following offenses:

  • Possession of a Firearm while also in Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Possession of Marijuana

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $7,505 secured bail.
