18-Year-Old Arrested for Shots Fired Incident in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, DE — An 18-year-old  man has been arrested by the Wilmington police in connection to a shooting incident.

The criminal complaint alleges that on April 18, at approximately 6:19 p.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division were called to the 700 block of N. Monroe Street. There, gunshots were fired, leading to a full-scale investigation by Detective Kevin Murphy of the Criminal Investigations Division. During the course of the investigation, Murphy identified 18-year-old Michael Waller as the prime suspect and obtained warrants for his immediate arrest. Waller was taken into custody without any resistance by Safe Streets Task Force members on April 27.

Waller has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon

Waller was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $10,000 cash-only bail.
