15-Year-Old Arrested in Connection With Thursday Shooting Incident

WILMINGTON, DEWilmington Police report having arrested and charged a 15-year-old male in connection with an accidental shooting incident that took place Thursday afternoon.

On January 20, 2022, at approximately 3:45 p.m., police were dispatched to the 200 block of West 30th Street, where they located a 14-year-old male gunshot victim inside of a residence. The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

The case was assigned to Detective Brendan Shea of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of his investigation, Detective Shea identified a 15-year-old male, who was located by responding officers and taken into custody without incident at the scene, as a suspect. The incident was determined to have been accidental in nature.

The 15-year-old male has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Assault (First Degree)
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited

The juvenile was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was released on $22,500 unsecured bail.
