SCRANTON, PA — A man from Pottsville, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to a 45-month imprisonment term for allegations of methamphetamine trafficking, according to a recent announcement by United States Attorney Gerard M. Karam.
Antwain Sharrell Davender, 38, was sentenced on December 28, 2023, by United States District Judge Malachy E. Mannion. Following his prison term, Davender will enter into a four-year period of supervised release.
The charges stem from activities that occurred between January and April 29, 2022, in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. During this time, Davender allegedly possessed over 50 grams of a substance containing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute.
Further complicating Davender’s case is his status as a felon previously convicted of a drug trafficking offense. As such, he is prohibited from possessing firearms. Despite this, he was found to be in unlawful possession of an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle.
The case against Davender was a joint effort between the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Pottsville Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Jeffery St John led the prosecution.
