PITTSBURGH, PA — Joshua McKenzie, aged 38, a former resident of Butler City, Pennsylvania has been sentenced to 8 years of incarceration and 3 years of supervised release on account of his involvement in drug trafficking. Convicted of conspiracy to distribute fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, he faced sentencing before United States District Judge Christy Criswell Wiegand on Tuesday, May 2nd, 2023. Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti made the announcement.
As per court records, McKenzie was charged with conspiring to possess with intent to distribute and trafficking fentanyl. Furthermore, McKenzie, a convicted felon, knowingly possessed a firearm to aid in the commission of this crime between March and May 2020.
The government was represented by Assistant United States Attorney Michael L. Mitchell, in the prosecution of this case.
Acting US Attorney Rivetti praised the Butler County District Attorney’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives for their investigation, leading to McKenzie’s prosecution.
