PITTSBURGH, PA — In a significant ruling, United States District Judge Arthur J. Schwab sentenced Donald Snowden, a 32-year-old resident of New Castle, Pennsylvania, to 37 months in federal prison for trafficking fentanyl and cocaine. The announcement was made on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, by United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan.

Following the prison term, Judge Schwab ordered Snowden to serve an additional three years of supervised release. In August 2023, Snowden pleaded guilty to charges of conspiring to distribute fentanyl and cocaine between May 2021 and October 2022, as well as distributing fentanyl in August 2022.

In acknowledging his guilt, Snowden accepted responsibility for the distribution of 100 grams of cocaine and 16 grams of fentanyl. At the time of these offenses, Snowden was already on probation for a prior felony conviction.

Assistant United States Attorney Craig W. Haller prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States. The successful prosecution of Snowden followed a comprehensive investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies.

United States Attorney Olshan commended the tireless efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office, the United States Postal Inspection Service, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Lawrence County Drug Task Force, the Mercer County Drug Task Force, the New Castle Police Department, the Sharon Police Department, and the Pennsylvania State Police.
