HARRISBURG, PA — Governor Tom Wolf today released a statement following Tuesday’s earthquake on the island of Puerto Rico:
“I am deeply saddened and concerned about the reports of destruction and loss on the Island of Puerto Rico and its surrounding regions from the earthquake that hit the island Tuesday morning. It is particularly concerning given the devastating effects of Hurricanes Maria and Irma from which the island is still recovering.
“I traveled to the island in 2018 to offer the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s help and support as the people of Puerto Rico rebuild from the aftermath of those severe weather events.
“Puerto Rico and its people are known for their resilience and will rise again from this crisis. Pennsylvania is here to help. The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency is ready and willing to offer any assistance that Puerto Rico requires.
“We will continue to monitor the situation and support Puerto Rico as needed as it recovers from this latest setback. We stand in solidarity with the people and government of Puerto Rico in this difficult and trying time. My Advisory Commission on Latino Affairs has been, and will continue to be, in close touch with stakeholders both on and off the island to offer assistance and support.”
