ERIE, PA — A former resident of Erie, Pennsylvania, has been handed a seven-year prison sentence by a federal court on his conviction of violating federal firearm and drug laws. The sentence was announced on Thursday, January 4, 2024, by United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan.

The sentencing was imposed by United States District Judge Susan Paradise Baxter on Aaron Jovan Raiford, 42.

According to the details presented in court, Raiford was found to possess cocaine with an intent to distribute on or around March 25, 2022. It was also disclosed that Raiford, being a convicted felon, unlawfully possessed three firearms and ammunition. Further, on August 2, 2022, Raiford was once again found in possession of cocaine, purportedly with the intention to distribute. Federal law firmly prohibits an individual who has previously been convicted of a felony from possessing a firearm or ammunition.

Assistant United States Attorney Molly W. Anglin prosecuted Raiford’s case on behalf of the government.

United States Attorney Olshan commended the diligent work of the Pennsylvania State Police, whose investigation led to the successful prosecution of Raiford.
