PENNSYLVANIA — It’s been 38 years since 8-year-old Cherrie Mahan disappeared after getting off her school bus. The Pennsylvania State Police say that they are still searching for her, and are now offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to her whereabouts.

The disappearance of Cherrie Ann Mahan on February 22, 1985, has remained one of the most notorious unsolved missing child cases in the United States. At just 8 years old, Cherrie was declared legally dead in November 1998 yet her whereabouts, alive or deceased, have never been discovered. She had been seen disembarking her school bus approximately 50 feet from the driveway to her home in rural Winfield Township.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children featured Mahan as the first missing child on postcards distributed nationwide with a plea for information – “Have You Seen Me?”. Despite an ongoing investigation for nearly 40 years since her disappearance, no real leads or clues have been uncovered leading to Cherrie’s ultimate fate.

Cherrie was last seen wearing a gray jacket, denim blue jean skirt, blue leg warmers, tan ankle boots, and a blue book bag. If you have any information about this case, please contact the Pennsylvania State Police at 724-284-8100.
