PA FOP: Tragedy Strikes Again as Another Police Officer Is Shot

HARRISBURG, PA — Fraternal Order of Police State Lodge President Joseph Regan issued the following statement regarding the Temple University police officer who was fatally shot:

“There are no words to describe the news of another one of our officers being shot. This officer is a hero whose legacy and unselfish act will live in our hearts and memories forever. The 40,000 men and women of the PA FOP send their deepest condolences to the family of this hero and to the Temple University Police Department during this extremely difficult time.”

According to current reports, the incident occurred on Saturday when a Temple University police officer encountered a carjacking near 18th Street and Montgomery Avenue. Upon investigating the initial robbery at 15th Street and Cecil B. Moore Avenue, the officer reportedly tried to intervene in the carjacking only to succumb to an unnamed assailant’s gunfire. Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw confirmed this during a late-night briefing, citing that the shooting happened around 7 pm in the surrounding area of Temple University’s campus in North Philadelphia.
