Over $40k in Grants for Local Historical Projects Awarded

WEST CHESTER, PA — State Senator Andy Dinniman announced that Chester County offices and historical societies have received over $40,000 in funding from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC.)

East Bradford Township and the Borough of West Chester received funding from the PHMC’s Certified Local Government Grant Program. The Chester County Historical Society received funding through the Historical and Archival Records Care Grants.

“Chester County historical roots tie deeply with its culture, and it is vital to maintain that history,” Dinniman, who serves on the PHMC, said. “These grants will not only help new projects to maintain and increase the historical resources of our county – they’ll also help preserve our history for many years to come.”

The Certified Local Government Grant Program provides support for communities to develop programs and services needed to administer local preservation programs. The projects are as follows:

  • East Bradford Township: Awarded $10,000 to prepare design guidelines based on the State Historic Preservation Office’s guidelines and provide additional guidance on the workbook’s effectiveness in smaller communities.
  • Borough of West Chester: Awarded $25,000 to conduct a historical resources inventory and to create a historic resource atlas.
