Mexico’s Ban on Products Made With Forced Labor Is an Important Step

Mexico has taken a major step forward in the fight against forced labor, with a new regulation that bans the import of products made with this egregious practice. Senate Finance Committee Chair Ron Wyden, D-Ore., believes this is good news for workers across North America, as it will help to level the playing field and ensure that everyone is treated fairly.

“Mexico’s new rule barring the import of products made with forced labor is an important step to expunging this morally abhorrent and unfair trade practice from North American supply chains,” said Wyden.

“As the United States continues to fully enforce our own ban on forced labor, having one of our close trading partners and a major player in the automotive supply chain take similar action is critical to leveling the playing field for workers across North America.”
