April 25 Coronavirus Update: 1,174 Cases and 82 Deaths in Chester County from COVID-19

Chester County health officials have today confirmed 72 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the countywide total to 1,174 cases and 82 deaths.1 All people are either in isolation at home or being treated at the hospital.

In long term care facilities and personal care homes, there are 273 resident cases of COVID-19 at 26 of 75 distinct facilities in Chester County. Out of the total deaths from COVID-19 in the county, 66 have occurred in residents from long term care facilities or personal care facilities.

There have been a total of 4,614 Chester County residents who tested negative for the COVID-19 virus to date.2

Statewide Coronavirus (COVID-19) Cases

Additionally, the Pennsylvania Department of Health officially confirmed the statewide total has reached 40,049 across all 67 counties, as of April 25, with a total of 1,537 deaths.

Statewide, there is a total of 152,886 patients who tested negative for the COVID-19 virus to date. Of the patients who have tested positive, based on statewide numbers, the age breakdown is as follows:3

  • Nearly 1% are aged 0-4;
  • Nearly 1% are aged 5-12;
  • 1% are aged 13-18;
  • 6% are aged 19-24;
  • 38% are aged 25-49;
  • 28% are aged 50-64; and
  • 26% are aged 65 or older.

Most of the patients hospitalized are aged 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older. There have been no pediatric deaths to date. More statewide data is available here.

In nursing and personal care homes, there are 6,544 resident cases of COVID-19, and 782 cases among employees, for a total of 7,326 at 425 distinct facilities in 40 counties. Out of our total deaths, 942 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities.

All non-life-sustaining businesses are ordered to be closed and schools are closed statewide through the remainder of the academic year. Currently, the entire state is under a stay-at-home order. However, Governor Wolf has presented a plan for a targeted reopening of the state.

Health officials stress the role every person plays in helping to reduce the spread of COVID-19:

  • Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
  • Cover any coughs or sneezes with your elbow, not your hands.
  • Clean surfaces frequently.
  • Stay home to avoid spreading COVID-19, especially if you are unwell.
  • If you must go out for a life-sustaining reason, please wear a mask.

Where is this info coming from. Pa just took 200+ deaths off the toll. They are saying people in hospice with two weeks to live with a covid positive diagnosis at the time of death it is still counted as a covid death. Then again I can’t even post my opinion of this covid situation on my Facebook without my speech being censored.
