Herrin: Jennersville and Brandywine Hospitals Proposed Closures Devastating for Chester County

WEST CHESTER, PA — State Rep. Dianne Herrin, D-Chester, released the following statement regarding the proposed deal for Tower Health to sell Jennersville and Brandywine Hospitals to Canyon Atlantic Partners falling through.

“A proposed deal for Tower Health to sell Jennersville and Brandywine Hospitals to Canyon Atlantic Partners fell through, and now these hospitals are set to close.

“This is devastating news for Chester County, as Brandywine Hospital is the only hospital in our county that houses a behavioral health facility for those with mental illness. At a time when our country is facing a severe mental health crisis, and during the holiday season when mental health incidents are known to increase, this is a giant step backwards for public health and for the safety and well-being of the people of Chester County.

Chester County legislators are getting together to work for solutions and strategies to protect access to vital health services. Healthcare is a human right, and we will not stop working until affordable and accessible services are available to all residents.”
