Toomey Calls for Administration Officials to Brief Senate on Russian Bounties

Pat Toomey

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senator Pat Toomey (R-PA) issued the following statement after yesterday reviewing classified documents regarding potential Russian bounties on the lives of American soldiers:

“Given the many examples of egregiously bad behavior exhibited by Vladimir Putin and the Russian government, it would not be surprising to learn that Russian officials put bounties on American soldiers’ lives.

“This does not make such actions less reprehensible or unacceptable. I have reviewed the classified information regarding bounties, upon which recent news reports are based.

“This information raises many questions and administration officials should come before the Senate and provide a classified briefing and answer questions from all members.

“If it is concluded that Russia offered bounties to murder American soldiers, a firm American response is required in short order.”
